a deliberation..?

After today's soul refreshing slot (took place in cs)..
Kept me wondering all night..
Have i been too oblivious all these years..?
Its simple, yet most people by pass this thing..

Referring to the 5th ayah of the Al-Alaq..
عَلَّمَ الإنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
(Taught man which he knew not )

This refer to our Might Lord who taught man which what man do not know.

Often since our primary school, we have been taught that "Education is important! Don't be lazy! You need to pass with flying colors or else you will fail miserably through out your entire life!"
All these 'motivation' sayings put pressure on youths and cause them to be exam oriented. Which simply means, younger generations nowadays tend to focus on being a straight A1 student that mark clearly on a piece of paper at the end of the day than being an A1 servant of Allah in the whole entire life.

Yup, they do study hard or smart (famous type of studying these days) to achieve the scroll that shouts to the world "I am brilliant! I got a 1st Class Honors in my course! You wont regret if you hire me to work in your organizations or companies!"

I'm sure,at one point of our life, we all have gone through the impression or belief that the society needs only these kind of people. Why, if any of you could remember, which i certainly do despite i rarely remember things in detail, that all our past motivational talk that we have gone through, the emphasize on the importance of obtaining the ribboned scroll at the end of tertiary education. None or if they are, only few mentioned that we need to be an A1 person not only in school, but in our daily life and importantly an A1 servant in the view of Allah. Even, when a student manage to get up to 16-17 A1's, when were asked 'what's the secret behind your success?', rarely we will hear the answer, 'its a Big Help from the All Mighty. Without Him helping me in understanding all these knowledge i would not have succeed'. Rather, the answer that would be famous is 'i studied smartly, follow tightly to my timetable' or 'its pure luck (nasib baik je ni)' or 'use the XXpen,Xy eraser, XZ pencils in the exam, and you'll succeed like me'..

So, when a sis bring up the discussion of the first five ayah of the sura al-alaq, I was profound. Somewhere at the back of my head, i knew everything I studied for the past 11-12 years in my life and succeed to proceed my studying further was not solely base on my effort (yeah right, i used to be lazy, back in the primary & high school). It was actually due to a gift or some would say a bless given by Him. I used to only remember this during the peak-period of the exams week. And during the week when result will be released. Other than that, it would never come up to my mind.

An example that was being given during the slot discussion was

"ABC and EFG are both a science students. Both have no knowledge on any Arts subjects. So one say, both of them decides to undertake an art subject as an elective. They went together to the same lecture, sitting side by side, i.e. in the same environment. But then after each lecture, ABC seem to have more understanding on that subject compare to EFG.. EFG is confused. How did ABC manage to grasps all the information quickly?"

Here it clearly shows, if Allah wills it, He'll give or taught the knowledge to a person quickly, as ABC get. So it would rather be unreasonable to say to someone, I'm not as intelligent as you, or vice versa. Put a 110% effort in all the work, and if He will it, you'll get what you desire, and if not, remember that He knows whats the best for you.

Someone once mentioned to me that " If by getting sick you'll remember Allah more, than He gives sick as a gift to u often, if by getting healthy you'll remember Allah more, He bless you with the gift of health."..the list continues including the success and failure in our life. So, if by succeeding in your studies is how you'll remember Allah better, than He provides the gift of Success to you and so is the other way round.

And how to be an A1 student as well as being an A1 servant to the Lord? Well, if you know the essential components in being an A1 servant to Allah, you'll certainly know the need to be an A1 student. It comes in a bundle as a package. Thus, let us not just focus on 24-7 studying.. There's a relationship that we need to cater for, as it took precedence over all others, i.e. our relationship with Allah. Once we cater, care for this relationship, we will eventually cater our relationship with family, friends, society, nature..etc

This is a reminder to first and foremost myself(me), as I forget things easily and to others who share the same comprehension of the ayah as me. Always do remind me of these type of things...

"so that he who perishes may perish after having received a clear sign and he who lives may live after having received a clear sign. (8.42)
